I have been an amateur photographer for about 15 years. It started when a friend gave me a used Canon 35mm camera as a gift. At the time I received the camera, I was doing a lot of volunteer work with disadvantaged and troubled kids in the community. The kids readily agreed to be my test subjects and for years, I attempted to develop my skills with portrait photography.

This arrangement worked out well because the kids got pictures to send home to their parents and for many of them, it improved their self esteem to see their image in print and appreciate the beauty I think we all have. I come from a large family (4 brother/4 sisters) and they too were always willing to jump in front of my lens. Having 9 uncles and aunts, I was always looked upon as the family photographer by 79 first cousins at family gatherings.

As the years went on and others began to learn of my photography skills, I was being asked to photograph weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, high school reunions, etc. I thought this was great because I was actually getting paid for a hobby that I really enjoyed. Although I was photographing a lot of events, portrait photography was still my passion. I considered it a personal challenge to capture people at their best with the camera lens.

Over the past few years, I have gotten away from shooting events. My hobby had become a business and was becoming less enjoyable. I still enjoy shooting portraits, especially of children. Capturing the innocent expressions of small children is worth the sometimes cumbersome efforts of getting them to sit still for a few seconds.

My interest over the last few years is travel photography. Traveling on safari in Nairobi, gorilla tracking in Uganda, and witnessing the explosion of color at hot air balloon festivals is indescribable. ItŐs amazing to visit other cultures and capture the beauty of exotic destinations. I always look forward to my next trip.

My choice of toys has changed a little over the last few years. I have added the use of a medium format and a digital SLR camera to my toy box. I am enjoying experimenting with different tools. And as always, I am trying to become a better photographer. I would like to thank my family and friends for indulging my passion for photography for all these years. A special thanks to my best friend, Mark Erskine for convincing me to put my photographs online and for hosting this site with his company, Host Depot. Also, thanks to designer of this site, Jason Newton, for his patience with helping to create these pages.

Last, but not least, thank you for visiting the site.
